Hi! What are your names and pronouns?

Rena Hagins

Katie McD

Eileen O’Grady - she/her

Andrew Breiner - he/him

If you had to pick any album to describe your current mood, what would it be and why?

RH: Patience - Mannequin Pussy. This album is an emotional rollercoaster and that’s how I would describe my mood on any given day this year.

KM: The Downward Spiral - NIN

EO: There is No Year - Algiers. This record somehow encompasses both the desperation of 2020 and a feeling of urgency and agitation that manages to give me hope when basically everything feels hopeless.

AB: New Day Rising - Husker Du

Without being able play shows, we're asking artists how they've been spending their time during quarantine. What have you been doing to stay busy?

RH: My partner and I adopted a dog in January, so we have been spending a lot of time bonding with him! His name is Denzel, he's a Chow mix, and he will be 2 years old at the end of the year. He is super friendly and very sweet! I never had a dog growing up, so this is a brand new experience and it has been really fun

EO: I made us all on the Sims and live out my little virtual life there.

KM: I’ve been taking care of my bees, gardening and trying to get better at ID-ing plants and mushrooms.

AB: Been playing some longer-term virtual games like D&D and Diplomacy online, and working on new musical skills like piano and mixing/editing/recording.

"Pleasure Vision" is amazing - it's one of my favorite album releases of the year. What were some inspirations for the album?

KM: Anxiety, heartache and being disgusted by American capitalism.

EO: Awh thank you! I think also alienation (due to capitalism) and the accompanying despair.

AB: For me: Big Eyes, Pissed Jeans, Screaming Females, and David Berman come to mind.

RH: Thanks so much for the kind words about the record! I agree with all of the above themes and influences. I’d also add that we were inspired by each other and our growth as a band over the past several years!

What's next for Bacchae?

RH: We started working with Brian Gorsegner at Wired! Booking earlier this year and were so excited to tour, but then shortly after our release show on March 6th, everything was cancelled due to the pandemic. Hopefully we will eventually be able to tour on the album when it is safe to do so. For the past few months, we have been working on songs for some compilation albums coming out later this year. It’s been really nice to work on music together, even though it is virtual.

EO: I think we also just miss hanging out with each other. So in my opinion Bacchae’s first order of business post-pandemic will be to simply Hang Out. And then yeah, tour for real and make a new record.

AB: Like Rena said, we’ve recently started working on new songs virtually, and I’m excited to see what we’re able to put together like that.
