PREMIERE: Slaughterhouse Immortalize Redondo Beach Piers Iconic Arcade In New Music Video "Fun Factory"

San Pedro, CA based punk band Slaughterhouse don suits, clown makeup, and chaos as they immortalize Redondo Beach Piers most iconic arcade in their latest Super 8 music video for “Fun Factory”

Redondo Beach Pier’s (CA) carnival-themed arcade, aptly referred to as The Fun Factory by South Bay residents for over five decades, has been closed for almost a year now. Despite the arcades somewhat controversial history, it’s remained an iconic staple of the South Bay since it was established in the 1970’s - if you grew up in the area, it’s highly likely you’ve visited the spot yourself at some point before it’s closure.

On the heels of The Fun Factory closing down, San Pedro, CA based punk band Slaughterhouse suited-up, painted their faces full-clown, and ran around Redondo Beach Pier, immortalizing the iconic arcade in the music video for their latest track appropriately titled “Fun Factory”. Shot entirely on Super 8 by filmmaker Nick Green before the arcades closure, the music video is a mashup of macabre-esque chaos perfectly capturing the weird, dark energy carnivals give off and showcasing Slaughterhouse’s raw, heavy punk sound.

“We had the idea for the song a while before it was scheduled to close down. When we heard of this news it sparked the idea for the video. Our friend Nick Green who filmed and produced our video was smart enough to get footage of the Fun Factory before it fully closed down. He filmed everything with Super 8. We were able to get the shots of us playing at The Sardine in San Pedro, CA. Our initial idea was that we were going to be clowns. So we got our own outfits, did our own make up, got a lot of balloons and followed Nick's (Green) lead. After getting the footage of us playing, we went down to the Redondo Pier and walked around with full make-up to get a few more shots for the video. One person thought we were about to do a flash mob. The funnest part was jumping in the ocean fully clothed, we went in the water in an area we weren't supposed to and the lifeguard came and asked us not to do it again.”
