PREMIERE: Box Shares First Single Off New Record 'Far'

Box, the musical concoction of Torrance, CA based musician Justin Sanchez, has just released ‘Far’, the first single off his upcoming record Keepin’ It Together to be released on August 18th. Box’s previous works were more folk-rock while this new single leans more into grunge and post-punk, showing that Sanchez isn’t tied to just one genre but is able to blend multiple together as he weaves between new releases. We asked Box to tell us a bit about his new single and the accompanying psychedelic music video:

“Far is about how thinking about the future can stress you out. I think I felt this way for a while especially with the job I was at and how I really didn't want to be there anymore. I was drinking six-packs after work, ate shitty food and didn't feel good in general. I was thinking about how I would really hate to be that guy that stays at a job til death and not learn anything or let the opportunities slip by. I grew out of it and needed change. Eventually I got out of it for a better opportunity and felt more acceptance with being who I am at the gig I'm at now. I learned to appreciate the present and to let tomorrow come when it gets here.

As for the video, I wanted an animation visual again. I opted for a trippy video rather than a story-based visual. I didn't really have a storyboard in mind for this so I let the animator kinda throw his wild ideas and see what would happen. I felt like the girl running and falling in the video represented something that I wanted but I feel like it's left up to interpretation at that point”
