Turning a New Page with The High Curbs’ Latest Single, “Try.”

by JUSTIN CERVANTES

The Southern Californian quartet, The High Curbs, begins a new chapter with the drop of their single, “Try.”

Expect to hear the killer-dribble of your classical instruments at play here: the acclimation of soft guitar-riffs to a bangin’ implosion synchronized with a rhythm-defining bass. Oh, and don’t forget the splash and crash of the drums underlining it all.

Despite a more mature theme of a pounding-love-pain relationship gone wrong, “Try” carries the raw attitude of a garage rock track, much like the rest of the band’s discography.

Even then, “Try” is chill and slow. It’s Summer-felt and an echo of their previous album, Happy Daps, but focused on the mantra ‘less is more.’ It looks like the boys are cooking up another project, and whether it be a full album or an EP, “Try” is a good sign of things to come.
