PREMIERE: Dove Armitage Shares Sinister Music Video For New Single ‘TERRORIZE’

It’s 3 A.M. - you abruptly wake up in a cold-sweat with little recollection of who you are or where you are. The only thing you can see as your eyes begin to adjust to the light is your dim, discolored TV - Dove Armitage’s video for ‘TERRORIZE’ begins to play and instead of coming back to reality, you are pulled deeper into insanity.

With a sound reminiscent of the 80’s synth-pop 45’s you’d find in your dads old vinyl crates, Quincy Larsens alter-ego solo-project Dove Armitage encapsulates itself in the macabre, surreal visuals only unlocked through fever-dreaming, or maybe LSD. We spoke to the Los Angeles, CA based musician about the project and the sinister themes surrounding the first single off her upcoming debut.

When we last spoke, Dove Armitage had just released the macabre track 'They Ate Timothy' and we absolutely fucking loved it - What has Dove gotten herself into this time?

Mostly just finishing this record finally! ‘They Ate Timothy’ definitely was a turning point in figuring out what I wanted to go for musically and visually, and also taught me a lot about production. From there it sort of acted like a catapult into what is now this record!

What is 'TERRORIZE' about lyrically? How does the visual component tie in?

It has multiple themes, but it's essentially about the drug fueled, predatory, dark underbelly of the music scene. I unfortunately experienced this first hand, and a lot of things came to light in the music community over the summer which felt like a liberating purge. It certainly fueled 70% of the lyrics for this entire record.

I wanted the attitude of the song to be along the lines of "fuck you, we (the women affected) don't have time for that."

What was the creative process behind the music video and what inspired it's chaos?

A LOT of experimenting. Dove certainly represents many exaggerated versions of myself, so much so that I feel more comfortable as her at times. She sort of tore me open, dug around through guts, glitter, ugly, beauty, leather, and pain, split herself into multiple beings, and became each element. Kind of like that part in Spirited Away where Kanoashi eats the River Spirit medicine and regurgitates everything while violently running down stairs. Maybe not exactly, but you get the idea. It's MESSY.

This is the first single off your upcoming LP, what can we expect?

The record is coming out February 26th - As far as what you can expect........Bram Stoker’s Dracula meets Final Fantasy 10 meets a cottage core aesthetic page.
