Lauran Hibberd and Lydia Knight Capture The Monotony Of Quarantine Life In ‘How Am I Still Alive?”

by LEXI MCCOY

Earlier this month English singer-songwriter Lauran Hibberd and Lydia Night of The Regrettes released "How Am I Still Alive?" off Lauran Hibberd's EP Goober out July 30th.

The video captures the monotony of quarantine life to a T - staring bleakly in the fridge, doing home workouts in front of a laptop in your bedroom and playing guitar in the kitchen. Although the lyrics feel dark, the anthemic, upbeat nature of the song paints it in a hopeful light and feels like celebration of being alive, even through the bullshit.

2019 tour-mates Hibberd and Night compliment each other perfectly in attitude and vocals, making lyrics like "I'm getting really good at talking to myself/I kinda noticed you are fucking someone else" and of course "How am I still alive? It blows my mind" feel fun somehow.

Lauren Hibberd and The Regrettes are a match made in rock 'n roll heaven. Check out the video and stream the song below:
